WWU Copy Services : Bookmark

The Western Washington University's Copy Services department wanted to advertise themselves in a new way. Since their facilities are located in the University's main library, they came up with the idea of a bookmark. As a friend, and frequent customer of their services, I offered to design it for them.

Solution

I already had the image of the man writing on the chalkboard and was waiting for the perfect time to use it. I used photoshop to repeat the lines upward into a fade and deferred the rest of the design's black background to match the image. I justified the text into text-blocks to repeat the rectangular theme of the bookmark. I wanted the contact info and hours to stand out, so I made them stark white with a ragged edge.

Result

The bookmark became a huge hit! They always had a stack of them on their counter that they had to replenish often. Business grew as more students had their contact info ready-at-hand.
